Dr. Charlie Hoar has over thirty years experience helping individuals, couples, families, and organizations solve emotional and interpersonal problems. In her counseling, she uses a combination of cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies, mindfulness techniques, and psychodynamic therapy.

Her experience includes work with the Marines, the Navy, and the Army at Camp Pendleton, CA; the Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, SC; and the Charleston Naval Hospital, SC; and the Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington DC. She has broad experience in both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse and mental health treatment programs, and has been a school psychologist in Alexandria and Fairfax County, Virginia. She has managed corporate Employee Assistance programs in Florida and California.

Dr. Charlie Hoar belongs to the American Psychological Association, the National Association for Alcohol and Drug Counselors, and holds a National Certification and California Certification as a Gambling Counselor.  She is an authorized treatment provider and supervisor for the State of California/UCLA Gambling Treatment Program.

She currently practices in Del Mar, California and serves adjoining areas of San Diego County.
